The Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to advancing the African creative sector, with a primary focus on music. While our foundational work supports a vibrant and sustainable music industry, our mandate has expanded to encompass the wider cultural and creative industries (CCIs). MIAF manages the leading online platform for the African music sector, www.musicinafrica.net , and leverages this expertise to foster growth and connectivity across the creative economy.
The National Employment Facility for Creative Industries in South Africa (NEFCISA) is a national work placement programme designed to address unemployment and skills gaps in the local creative sector. The facility will identify skills demand, recruit, train, and place a minimum of 1 000 workers into host organisations across South Africa for a period of 10 months. Key responsibilities
Under the supervision of the project team, the administrators will be responsible for:
- Assisting with day-to-day office operations, including filing (hard copy and digital), record-keeping, and maintaining an organised workspace
- Supporting the monthly administration of timesheets and reconciliation of worked hours for partners -requires experience in Excel
- Managing general correspondence, answering telephone calls, responding to emails via the NEFCISA administrative account, and communicating with partners and stakeholders in a professional manner
- Supporting the coordination of logistics for meetings, workshops, and small events, including sourcing and obtaining quotations
- Updating and maintaining databases, mailing lists, and stakeholder registers
- Providing general administrative support to the NEFCISA project team as required
Working terms & remuneration
This positions are offered in line with NEFCISA guidelines:
- Placements will run from appointment to August 2026, under the NEFCISA social employment model.
- Additional training and mentorship opportunities will be provided through MIAF.
- Daily rate: R426.88 (full day)
- Monthly CTC: R4 268.80
- Based on up to 10 full days per month
- This is an in-office position based in Rosebank, Gauteng
- This is a part-time, task-based engagement, subject to operational requirements
Requirements and skills
- Experience or interest in the creative and cultural industries will be an advantage
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (email, word processing, spreadsheets)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is essential.
- Some experience in an administrative or office support role is advantageous
- Strong organisational, communication, and time-management skills
- A keen interest in or previous exposure to the cultural and creative industries (CCIs).
- Ability to work independently and under supervision
- Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to work.
