Mpho Gift Mohlong, known as Mpho. Wav. Hailing from Orange Farm township in Johannesburg, and spending his formative years in the Vaal Triangle. 

Mpho Wav’s passion for music was ignited at the tender age of 14 when he started learning how to play the drums and piano at his church. He then went on to perform as a session musician for various artists and bands. He joined the El World Music (now called Africa To The World Agency), created by mentor and friend Sun-El Musician, as an additional session musician and later as a music producer. Many credit him as being one of the pioneers of 3-step music. 

In 2021, he released his debut single “In the Den” featuring Sun-El Musician. The following year, he released the song “uMoya” featuring Brendan Praise. Both songs were a success and amassed hundreds of thousands of streams across various platforms. His debut album, The Book of Wav, was released in 2024. The project is a story of his upbringing and his rise as an artist, divided into multiple chapters. Still only in his late 20’s, there is still much more to come from this talented artist.
