Uncle D

Uncle D’s musical journey began early. He started rapping in Grade 4, heavily inspired by his neighbour, Nasty C. The moment he saw Nasty C perform on TV, he knew music was his calling. Motivated by that spark, he began recording at his cousin Phaka’s home studio. Every time he stumbled or choked during a session, Phaka would send him home to practice, a push that strengthened his discipline and sharpened his skills.

His dedication paid off. At just 11 or 12 years old, he recorded a song titled Afica with Young B, Philasande, and Gordon Kid. He played it for as many people as he could, and every response confirmed the same thing, he had something special.

In matric, Uncle D released his first official single across all digital platforms. The song created a buzz and began opening doors for him in the industry.

As his profile grew, major artists including MalumKoolKat, Murda Bongs, and Sjava started following his journey. The Aibo remix with uSimamane became a breakout hit, gaining traction across streaming platforms and further establishing Uncle D as one of Durban’s most promising rising stars.
