The Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF) is seeking to appoint a dynamic and experienced Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer to support the implementation of the National Employment Facility for Creative Industries in South Africa (NEFCISA). The Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to advancing the African creative sector, with a primary focus on music and the wider cultural and creative industries (CCIs). MIAF manages the leading online platform for the African music sector, www.musicinafrica.net , and leverages this expertise to foster growth and connectivity across the creative economy.
NEFCISA is a national work placement programme designed to address unemployment and skills gaps in the local creative sector. The facility will identify skills demand, recruit, train, and place a minimum of 1 000 workers into host organisations across South Africa for a period of 10 months.
Key responsibilities
The M&E Officer will be responsible for developing, managing, and executing the project’s monitoring and evaluation framework to ensure that NEFCISA meets its targets, maintains quality standards, and delivers measurable impact. This role requires a highly organised individual with strong analytical and reporting skills, and a deep understanding of social employment and creative sector dynamics. The M&E officer will work from our office in Johannesburg (Rosebank).
- Lead the implementation of the NEFCISA Monitoring & Evaluation Plan, including data collection, tracking, analysis, and reporting.
- Coordinate with field teams, host organisations, and implementing partners to ensure consistent data flow and compliance with MIAF and SEF reporting requirements.
- Conduct tfield visits to host organisations to monitor progress, verify data, and provide on-the-ground support
- Manage digital systems for participant registration, attendance, training, and placement tracking.
- Conduct baseline, mid-term, and final evaluations in line with project timelines.
- Prepare detailed M&E reports highlighting outcomes, challenges, and recommendations.
- Support learning and knowledge-sharing processes to strengthen programme delivery.
- Ensure compliance with POPIA and other data protection standards.
- Providing administrative and logistical support to the project team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (a postgraduate qualification will be an advantage).
- Minimum of 3years’ experience in M&E.
- Proven experience designing and implementing M&E systems and using digital data tools.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Familiarity with South Africa’s cultural and creative industries will be an advantage.
- High attention to detail, integrity, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Skills and competencies:
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to work.
- Willingness to travel nationally.
- A valid driver’s licence.
