groove twist

Groove Twist is a band from Ga-Rankuwa, founded in November 2023, by Gopolang Modungwa and Obakeng Modise. It is made up of seven members named, Moeketsi MK Motaung who plays trombone, Gopolang G.P Modungwa as a bassist, Thato Tee_Percussions Mokhatsi on percussions, Tshego TheBass Lekalakala the lead vocalist, Obakeng Bucks Modise on djembe drum, Amogela Amo Mothokoa on trumpet and Thabiso keys Mauwane on keyboard.

A lot of names were thrown on the table but Groove Twist was the one that stood out the most since it speaks more of what we want to do about the type of music we play and compose now and in the future.

It is a band which plays a fusion of afro jazz, afro pop and house music.

Performances

Since inception we have performed at Hashtag Meat Café in Ga-Rankuwa, The Score, Tshwanetoria, Black Labone at the South African State Theatre, and Darkies in the Bush annual camp in Thabazimbi.
