Bio
His official name is Reagan Oduor Nyachieng’a. He started learning Kenyan traditional music at the age of ten years. Reagan is a professional musician, percussionist, teacher, and instrument builder. As a freelancer, he has worked with groups in dance, acrobatics, and music, touring in Norway (2008), Lithuania (2008), Tunisia (2009-2010), Denmark (2013), Italy (2014), Croatia (2024), and France (2024).
In 2016, Reagan and Amalie met in Nairobi,Kenya and founded a live music band called Kede Duol. In Kede duol Reagan plays percussion and sings, while Amalie Malmgren Asmild from Denmark plays the violin and sings. The band combines traditional Kenyan rhythms with Nordic folk melodies. They also create original songs inspired by Kenya's diverse urban cultures and languages. This mix gives them a unique musical style that attracts both local and international audiences.
Kede Duol performances are known for their lively energy and cultural authenticity, making them a well-regarded act in the world music scene. Kede Duol has held concerts for both children and adults in several countries. They toured Kenya in 2016, 2017, 2021, and 2023, Denmark in 2017, 2024, and 2025, Sweden from 2021 to 2025, Slovenia in 2024, and Uganda in 2017.
In 2023, Kede Duol released a four-track EP called "Together We Can Make a Change." Reagan Oduor Nyachieng'a composed and wrote the songs alongside Amalie Malmgren Asmild . The EP invites listeners from all seven continents to think about the importance of cooperation, peace, love, and the economic empowerment of Africa's resources to support its people.
Reagan Oduor Nyachieng’a is an artistic mentor who focuses on his Kenyan heritage. He empowers Kenyan youth through music and cultural exchange. In December 2024, the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs in Kenya awarded him the Talanta Award for promoting traditional Kenyan music in Kenya and Nordic countries. He teaches young musicians to play traditional Kenyan instruments and shows them how to build these instruments.
Reagan is an entrepreneur and the founder of Reagan-Afro Percussion in Sweden. He has 25 years of experience in creative work, project management, social work, and community development. His company organizes concerts, runs music residency programs, builds instruments, offers private music lessons, and provides training in management and leadership for cultural organizations.
In 2005, he started M-Tafsiri Africa, a nonprofit organization in Kenya, which expanded to Sweden in 2023. M-Tafsiri focuses on cultural and creative projects. Reagan enjoys connecting different cultures. In 2025, he will help organize the Global Folk Music Exchange Camps in Kenya, scheduled for July 19 to July 28.
