Matthew AGBA
Bio
Matthew Agba is a distinguished pianist, organist, and piano teacher from Nigeria with a deep passion for music education. He holds a Diploma in Music Theory, a Certificate of Achievement from the American International Music Competition 2024, and several certifications from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) in London, including CPD certificates in Developing Musicianship Skills and Reflecting on Your Practice. Additionally, he holds an Alison Certificate in Piano Improvisation for Music Production, ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal School of Music) certificates in Piano Performance, and MUSON (Musical Society of Nigeria) certificates in Music Theory.
Matthew is actively a remote Piano Teacher at Fox Music School London Asia region, he volunteers as a piano teacher for Art Sphere Inc. in Pennsylvania, USA, and the Art to Heart Foundation in Alberta, Canada. He has earned performance certificates from the International School of Musician-University of West London, for World Music Day in both 2022 and 2024. As a dedicated educator, he serves as the Director of MATT-AGBA MUSIC CONSULT, a music education service provider based in Nigeria. He teaches piano at the Every Student a Musician Unit of Mountain Top University in Ogun State, Nigeria. He previously held the position of Administrative Head at Harryfield Music Institute in Lagos, Nigeria, and currently he is a performer and serves as Assistant Organist and Pianist at the Chapel of the Healing Cross in Idi-araba , Lagos, Nigeria.
With over twenty years of experience, Matthew has successfully prepared numerous students for ABRSM and MUSON examinations, consistently achieving outstanding results. He is a member of the Society of Music Educators of Nigeria (SOMEN) and a graduate member of the Nigerian Institute of Management. He holds a Diploma in Accounting, a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Statistics, and a Master of Science in Economics, all from the University of Benin, Nigeria.
As a partner and Nigeria representative for the International School of Musicians (ISoM) 1000 Dockside RD, London,UK. Matthew is committed to nurturing the next generation of leaders through music education. He is currently working on an unpublished article titled "Music and the Child's Brain" and offers charity music classes to underprivileged children in Nigeria and beyond. He is widely regarded as a music statesman, mentor, and role model, both in Nigeria and internationally.
He has undergraduate and graduate degrees in Economics, Statistics, and Developmental Economics!
