Umunthu Theatre

Based in Lilongwe, Malawi, Umunthu Theatre is one of the popular cultural scenes to emerge out of Malawi. It is well-known for hosting live music, films, night clubs and variety shows. Most local artists throng the place to showcase their talents. Since its foundation, the organisation has focused on the talent available in the country such as plays, comedy, bands, film and night clubs. All these activities have been hosted in the Umunthu Theatre. The center has opened doors for an IT center, music studio and even 3-on-3 basketball within the theatre.

Formerly a garage, the theatre can accommodate 280 people and a standing capacity of 600. It was previously based at Harry’s Bar in Lilongwe but has now found a new and more suitable home in a converted Warehouse just off Paul Kagame Road in central Lilongwe.
