Toku Eric, known by his stage name UPTEE, hails from the heart of Konongo, Ghana. He is a young Afrobeat and Melodic Drill artist whose musical journey draws inspiration from the rhythms of Gospel, highlife and Hip Hop legends such as Great Ampong, Mark Anim Yirenkyi, Daddy Lumba, Amakye Dede, and Sarkodie.
UPTEE’s upbringing had a significant influence on his musical path. His grandmother raised him, which contributes to his mastery in the native Twi language. UPTEE creates soul-satisfying music by skillfully combining rich melodies with the knowledge found in proverbs and old sayings.
His musical career is a shining example of determination; he overcame four years of brief setbacks due to financial difficulties. Growing stronger, UPTEE mastered his talent and wrote songs that millions of people can relate to.
Songs like “Maame,” and “Uloma” helped to create the basis for UPTEE’s most recent hit, “Obi,” which is going viral with over four hundred thousand streams across four platforms and an impressive two million views on TikTok, and this has opened doors and hearts, propelling him into the spotlight.
In UPTEE’s own words, this marks just the beginning of a legendary odyssey—one that pledges to elevate Ghanaian music to unprecedented heights. World, brace yourselves, for UPTEE is here to leave an enduring impact. DIKAN NA MEBA!
