Flavor B

Flavor B is a singer and dancer from Johannesburg, South Africa.

Nontsikelelo Mdlankomo professionally knows as Flavor B is an artist, musician, fashion designer (brands, PhumaKim, KasiQueen, KasiKing) and businesswoman from Orlando West, Soweto. For as long as she can remember, music and dance have been integral parts of Flavor B’s life. At age 7, she was already choreographing dance moves for her and her cousins which they used to perform at family gatherings. Moving to Germany from Soweto, at the tender age of 13, her passion just kept growing. Music became her refuge and comfort during bouts of being homesick.

She moved to Germany and lived there for 20 years, that’s when she learned to speak and to write in German. Living in a diverse cultured city like Berlin, allowed for her passion to gain momentum and grow. In 1997 she took dance classes from Marvin Smith one of the best Choreographers from the US. The year also saw her gain choreography skills from Magic Force, a dance crew from Belgium. She ended up travelling to Lithuania, Amsterdam and Belgium on tour and doing modelling. Flavor B’s TV debut saw her being featured as a regular dancer on a hit music TV show which aired on ARD TV, Pro 7 TV and MTV Germany alongside Sasha and Young Denay, German singers, songwriters and musicians from Germany. She has also featured as a dancer on a few music videos and landed a small role in the movie Desert Flower.

Flavor B, also judged an annual street dance event, Berliner Tanz Meistershaften, a dance royalty challenged entered by some of the great dance crews in Germany. In 1998 she started teaching Hip Hop and Dancehall dance moves while she established herself as a Choreographer for Germany’s entertainment elite. She has performed and toured with international artists such as Enrique Iglesias, Comet 2000, Walking Large (Ono), Brooke Russells, Sarah Connor, Wyclef Jean, Fler and DJ Thomekk; to mention a few. In fact, it was Pamela Knight, an American singer, who encouraged Flavor B to pursue her music career. She has performed in many places locally; different events including some of Jozi”s clubs and Events (Soweto Festival Expo, Soweto Theatre, Lichaba, German Fest and more). She had shared the stage with the like of Biblos, Brian Temba and Chomi, Fifi Cooper just to mention a few.

The singles and video are out and available on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, YouTube and other online stores and music platforms. The second single is UTHANDO by Flavor B feat. Vara releases September 2020. The current single is Uyang’Thanda produced by King Barella, released on the 23. April 2021.
