EL-FAKAZEI

EL-FAKAZEI is an Urban Maskandi group from South Africa. The band was formed in 2020 from a collection of a GUITARIST, VOCALIST and a SOUND TECHNICIAN. Their unique brand of entertainment fuses Afro-Pop, House music and Maskandi with Urban Electro elements and surprising set changes that will make you want to float away on a dream cloud.
THEY have had the pleasure of collaborating with iconic artists such as Skank and The Roots, Ithwasa Lekhansela, Imfez’emnyama, Sbo Da Poet, Joejo and Maxhoseni.
One of their greatest achievements was to perform at the National Arts Festival 2022 in Makhanda.
They recently won a BEST MASKANDI AWARD at the 2024 5th Annual MUSIC ARTS AND MEDIA AWARDS.
Their music serves as a cultural mind institution, fostering connections between diverse groups of people, increasing vitality,
celebrating and continuing our African cultures.
Their Educational Music Programme, EMPINI YAMALUNGELO (Advocating Against Gender Based Violence), was selected to be part of the 2022 National Arts Festival. In this programme, they collaborated with the Radio sensation, ELVIS MALI, from Umhlobo Wenene FM in facilitating the combat against Gender Based Violence through Music. This programme addresses the priority of education and awareness raising to prevent and combat GBV, in particular by changing attitudes and behaviours towards the phenomenon among girls and boys.
