Bio

Poetic Xtremez, popularly known as Poetic X, is a Gambian hip-hop group that was founded in 2000. In 2005, they dropped their maiden single called ‘Wulajanjara’ featuring Afro-manding artist Sambou Susso. That same year, Poetic X resigned from Da Bulldoff Army, a group they had joined, but continued working with MJ the producer who also produced for Da Bulldoff.

In 2006, MJ passed on, and they took a two-year break to concentrate on their individual works. They made a comeback in 2008 and participated in the first Sene-Gambian hip-hop compilation, DK/BLJ. They also represented Gambia twice on Festa2H, an annual international hip-hop festival held in Dakar, Senegal. In 2011, Poetic X released their debut album ‘Yon Beh Gudone’. The most talked about song on the album is ‘Sunu Dekala’. The song tals about corruption, nepotism, deforestation and other social ills affecting the country.

In 2014, they released a mixtape entitled ‘Lu Jot Yomba’. The mixtape features fifteen tracks and feature popular songs such as ‘Abu Mahoud’, ‘Sunu Dekala’, ‘Buga Dem’ and ‘Black Woman’. That same year in September, Poetic X and Sir X represented their country in the TribeOne Dinokeng Festival in Pretoria, South Africa. They joined South African singers namely Karen Zoid, Tailor, Desmond & the Tutus, Shortstraw, Kwesta, Samuel Miller, Rouge, The Dollfins, David & Goliath, Veranda Panda, New Academics, Lacey May, Beatenberg, Gang of Instrumentals, MXO & The Peppercorns, Royal K, Beat Army, Ricardo da Costa, Mark Stent, Lady Lea, Tommy D, Roger de Lux, House Hold Funk, and Kyle Watson.

In March 2016, she released their first single ‘Chow Lisi Tein Bi’ from their upcoming EP, ‘Degga Dou Heawi’.
