Qibho and Sandz
Bio
Qibho and Sands is Swaziland hip-hop duo comprising of Sandziso (‘Sands’) Matsebula and Qibho Intalektual. Their music is a fusion of contemporary hip-hop and soul music. Sands studied music for many years under the guidance of some of the country’s top musical mentors and producers. He is one of the most talented songwriters in the country who has done solo performances at intimate venues, as well as at larger festivals. On the other hand Qibho Intalektual is among the high ranked poet in the country. He earned fame through a famous poetry group called Rooted Soulz. His love for poetry prompted him to venture into music.
The duo sings in siSwati and English languages. Their EP titlted ‘Kingdom Stories: Chapter One’ was well-received and earned them a mark in the country’s music scene. The music outfit is known for performing at major festivals and the region’s top venues.
In 2014, the duo together with Floewe was disqualified from the Sibebe Friday Night Live (SFNL) competition. The trio did not compete against their local counterparts during the Battle of the Bands in April for a spot at the MTN BushFire Festival. They disqualified from the competition because they were since included into the lineup for the three-day festival which took place from 30 May to 1 June of that year.
