LEWA
Bio
Jamilah Tidzani, also known as Lewa, is a singer-songwriter born on March 27, 2000, in Libreville, Gabon.
Passionate about the arts, especially writing, Lewa is an introverted and discreet young woman with a rich personality, great sensitivity, and an unwavering passion.
After writing in the shadows for a few years, she recorded her first track, "Here," in 2017, expressing her relationship with her mother for the first time in writing. A few months later, in early 2018, she met composer I-PKU, founder of Jupiton Music label. Together, they wrote and composed her first EP, "Chrysalide," inspired by Nevaland by SSOLOGOD. This first opus is her interpretation of a series of works on Alice in Wonderland, especially Patrick Sénécal's rewriting in his novel Aliss, a version under the prism of horror. Later, on December 13, 2019, she released "Lovers" in collaboration with Maurice Maguena, a song inspired by the romances of the Duchess of American Horror Story Hotel. This was followed by "Escape Paradis" on May 23, 2020, a short story of seduction, after which she began preparing her first album, "Triplicity."
As a prelude to the Triplicity album, Lewa collaborated with Damien Owono on "All Night" on January 2021, and participated in BOYKLS and Carty's Coolmangers project (December 29, 2021) on the track "Ndolo Money 2."
As part of her work with I-PKU, she became the voice of the theme song for the first Gabonese original creation for Canal+ Afrique, the series Mami Wata: the Mystery of Iveza. The track "Take Me" was released with the Original Soundtrack of the series on February 2022.
Shortly after, the first single from Triplicity was released on her birthday. "Someday Soon" is an introspective song about ochlophobia, which she presented at her first showcase at the Cave à Vins d’Akanda, featuring exclusive tracks from the Triplicity album. The music video for "Lay Down" marked the final phase before the official release of the album on February 17, 2023, and its presentation on the stage of the French Institute of Gabon on February 18, 2023.
In Triplicity, the writing is authentic and introspective, as in "Someday Soon". The choruses are melancholic and melodious, as in "Crystal Meth", and the collaborations are excellent, as in "Wood God" (feat Ccico).
