Carine au Micro

Bio

Carine is a soulful singer and songwriter, originally hailing from Bénin. Carine’s music has the power of gospel, the softness of jazz, the warmth of African music and the authenticity of hip-hop. In 2018 Carine au Micro released the album, ‘O La Si’, an album of five songs, whose themes centre on love and relationships. Her interest in music started at a very young age, under the influence of her parents, especially her mother. On a trip to France in 1998, her passion for music took a decisive turn as she started collaborating with various musicians. When she arrived in Quebec in 2004 to pursue her university studies, Carine joined the Imani Gospel Singers, which allowed her to become familiar with the Montreal music scene. In 2013, Carine participated in “La comédie musicale Mahalia Jackson” in the Segal Center in Montreal, starring Ranee Lee (Juno award-winning jazz musician). Her encounters with musicians like Lorraine Klassen, Noel Mpiaza and David Mobio helped cement her spot in the Montreal music scene.
