The 2019 Homecoming Africa Festival will be held at the Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria, South Africa, from 26 to 28 November.
The event will be headlined by Kwesta, A-Reece, Boity, Moozlie, Zakes Bantwini and Da Capo. They will be joined by Rouge, Gigi Lamayne, 25k, Anatii, BCUC, Blacklez, DBN Gogo, Langa Mavuso, Focalistic, Kamo Mphela, Punk Mbedzhi and DJ Sumbody. Confirmed artists from other countries are Mpho Sebina (Botswana), Karun (Kenya), Kyekyeku (Ghana) and Morena Leraba (Lesotho).
The festival, which is in its 11th edition, will also feature such comedians as Mpho Popps, Tumi Stopnonsonso and Thapelo King.
“This will not be my first time at Homecoming Africa Festival, I have performed at the event before and I am very excited to see upcoming artists on the stage, it’s always nice to see new talent,” Rouge told Music In Africa. “I am also excited to see artists from all over Africa which I really appreciate because the focus should not be on bringing artists from overseas and all these other places but to really shine a light on African artists.”
Gigi Lamayne said: “People should expect fireworks and its been a long time I performed at Homecoming Africa Festival. I think its been three or four years under Khuli Chana and to see my name as one of the main acts at Homecoming is really great. I am looking forward to the performance.
“I am happy that the organisers were inclusive in terms of the line-up, there is a strong female representation this year. Even if I wasn’t performing, I would have bought myself a ticket to go and experience the festival. Shout out to the organisers of Homecoming Africa Festival and it’s great to see that the event is growing.”
Homecoming Events managing director Katlego Malatji said: “This festival will bring a significant shift in the way we view events, social responsibilities and music in the continent, it is the start of something very special.”
Tickets to the event are available here.
