Tshepo Fela
Bio
Tshepo Fela was born, Tshepo Mosia in Maboloka, North West Province, South Africa. He is an artist whose music is a combination of American jazz progressions and African vernacular influences from different cultures dipped in soulful melodies. He was bought up in a family of seven children. He often preferred to lead a solitary life, dreaming of becoming a fashion designer like his mother. His creativity didn’t end with design, he loved to write and compose music. When he was 19 years old, he decided to join a trio called Soultique. He later enrolled at Tshwane University of Technology to study jazz music and this saw him launching a solo career and released a debut album titled 'Multi-cultural Ideologies'.
He has won a number of accolades including ESP Young Legends top five finalists 2016, Gauteng Province Best jazz band in the Department of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation’s Puisano Music Program (2013-2014). In September 2013, his band was a finalist in battles of the bands competition, Raw Unplugged.
He has performed in most of the big South African jazz festivals like the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz, Moretele Heroes Tribute Concert, Moshito Music Exhibition, Grahamstown National Arts Festival as well as the South African State Theatre. He was also honored to be on the line-up of artists to perform at the South African Presidential Inauguration and at many well-known corporate events.
