Network of Musicians Tanzania (TAMUNET)

Bio

Founded in 2004, The Network of Musicians Tanzania (TAMUNET) focuses on enabling music artists in Tanzania access health insurance besides the development of the music industry. The idea was born after its current president John Kitime attended the General Assembly of the World Federation of Music -International Federation of Musician (FIM). During the meeting one of the resolutions of the meeting was to fabricate each country establishes the procedure for health insurance for his musicians.

Soon after returning to Tanzania, in collaboration with other leaders of TAMUNET, Kitime began tracking the possibility of accessing the same insurance for musicians. Unfortunately there were no way affordable insurance premiums that which ordinary musician could manage.

After various trials in 2015 things changed for the better as the Fund of National Health Insurance NHIF established a domain Insurance program that would enable musicians get health insurance at an affordable cost.

Musicians TAMUNET members have already begun to benefit from the services of health insurance for the entire year, this is after paying TShs76, 800 ($36).
