Muneeb Hermans

Bio

Muneeb Hermans is a trumpeter from South Africa.

He was born in Cape Town and started his career at the Cape Minstrel fraternity. Herman studied jazz Performance at the University of Cape Town. He plays regularly on the Cape Town jazz scene and has internationally performed in the UK, France, China, Seychelles, Spain and the US.

Herman has also performed at most South African jazz festivals on numerous occasions such as the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, Standard Bank National Youth Jazz festival, and Joy of Jazz Festival in Johannesburg. In 2016, Herman performed at the London Jazz Festival in collaboration with Kinetika Bloco (UK) and The Little Giants (SA). In 2013, he worked on a collaboration project between South Africa and France with Benjamin Jephta and Marcus Wyatt. He also travelled to France to work on a project called Big Time.

Hermans has recorded on Sean Sanby’s 2020 Mzansi Jazz Award nomination album called 'Out of The Candlelight'. He is also a 2020 award recipient for the virtual National Arts Festival in Makhanda.

He has shared the stage with artists likes Caiphus Semenya, Errol Dyers, Tete Mbambisa, Jimmy Dludlu, Mark Fransman and Buddy Wells.

Hermans was also a trumpeter at the prestigious Standard Bank National Youth Jazz Band which was led by Buddy Wells.
