Temi Dollface

Bio

Temi Dollface (Temitope Samantha Phil-Ebosie) is a Nigerian singer-songwriter. She grew up in Lagos and the United Kingdom and claims an extraction of ‘Yoruba, Igbo, West Indian and a hint of Scottish’. She received a keyboard from her (along with a box of cassettes) pastor as a child and composed her first song age 7. She has a first degree in Food and Nutrition and was signed by Sony Music at age 20.

Influenced by a number of singer-performers from Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Stevie Wonder, Fela Kuti, Earth Wind and Fire to Pharrell, N.E.R.D and Outkast, she recorded and released her first single Pata Pata (2013) a song about the end of a relationship, with a lady urging her partner to quit pretending. The song’s well-received video was a minor hit and turned Nigerian music loving audience’s attention to Temi Dollface. The Guardian UK called the video ‘one of the most original African music videos.’

Her music, which she qualifies as ‘Drama Soul’ has hints of afrobeat, hip-hop, jazz and R&B. Her second single, J’ust like That (Story)’, was released in 2014. Temi Dollface was nominated for four awards at the 2014 AFRIMA Awards. She performs regularly at events in Lagos.
