Seyi Shay
Bio
Seyi Shay (born Deborah Oluwaseyi Joshua on 21 December 1985) is a Nigerian-based singer who was born in the UK to Nigerian parents. She started performing at the age of six.
She was signed in 2005 by the legendary George Martin, former producer of the Beatles and under his label wrote and produced three major songs for Konami, the Japanese video game manufacturer.
A year later, she performed as part of a girl band, Boadicea, managed by Ron Tom, former manager of the Sugarbabes and All Saints. In 2008 she participated in a national audition and emerged the lead singer of the girl group From Above, which was signed to Sony/Columbia Records and supported Beyoncé on her UK tour. She also famously wrote the lyrics to the hit single 'White lies' by UK grime act Chipmunk.
Now a solo artist, signed to Flytime Records, she reconnected with her Nigerian roots, working with producers like Jay Sleek, Tee-y Mix, Del B and Cobhams Asuquo. In Nigeria she has shared the stage with such acts as, Rick Ross, Darey, 2face Idibia, Wizkid, P-Square and many others.
