Wouter Kellerman

Bio

Wouter Kellerman started playing the flute at the age of 10 and in 1981 appeared as a soloist with the Johannesburg Symphony Orchestra. He went on to feature in several South African orchestras, winning numerous accolades. His debut solo album, 'Colour', was nominated for a 2008 SAMA for Best Instrumental Album. It was followed by 'Two Voices' (2010), which won the 2011 SAMA in the same category. A live DVD, 'Kellerman Colour Live', also won a SAMA in 2010.

In 2012 he released two albums, 'Half Moon' and 'Timeless', followed by 'Mzansi' in 2013. His albums have been released in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, North America and Australia. He followed his performance at the 2010 Fifa World Cup closing ceremony with concerts at the Joy of Jazz festival in Johannesburg and the Shanghai World Expo in China. He has performed around the globe, including Berlin, Sydney and at MIDEM in Cannes, France. His 2012 US tour included appearances in Washington DC, New York City and Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. In August 2013, he performed his composition 'The Long Road' - a flute solo for Nelson Mandela - for a stadium of 80 000 people and a television audience.
