Congolese musician Ferre Gola has expanded his partnership with Sony Music Entertainment through an exclusive catalogue agreement covering some of his most recognised works, marking a further step in the artist’s long-standing international career.

The agreement includes albums such as Qui est derrière toi? and Sens interdit, alongside collaborations including Tucheze featuring Victoria Kimani. Spanning more than three decades, the catalogue reflects Ferre Gola’s sustained presence in Congolese rumba and wider African music, where he is often referred to as “Le Padre”, or the Father of Rhumba.
Ferre Gola said the deal would help extend the reach of his music to new audiences across different generations. “This partnership means a lot to me because it ensures that the music I’ve created over the years can continue to reach fans across generations and continents,” he said. “My goal has always been to share the spirit and emotion of Rhumba with the world, and with Sony Music, that vision becomes even stronger.”
“Ferre Gola represents the heartbeat of Congolese music; his voice, artistry, and legacy embody the richness of African sound,” Sony Music Entertainment for East Africa head Christine ‘Seven’ Mosha said. “This catalogue expansion is not just about preserving his music; it’s about amplifying it for the next generation of global listeners and ensuring that rhumba continues to inspire and move people worldwide.”
The partnership comes as Ferre Gola continues to expand his international touring schedule, including a performance at the Accor Arena in Paris, a stadium show in Gabon, and upcoming appearances in Johannesburg and London. His Johannesburg debut is scheduled for May at Gold Reef City, followed by a performance at the Copper Box Arena in London on 11 July.
Sony Music said the catalogue agreement forms part of a wider effort to promote African music globally, with planned promotional activity spanning streaming campaigns, live performance highlights and international media engagement in the coming months.
