TuneCore offering free distro until 3 July
Global digital music distribution service TuneCore has announced that its artists are close to reaching the $1bn mark in terms of download and streaming revenue. To reach this benchmark, the company is encouraging new and existing users to upload a single via its Billion Dollar Club campaign for free using the promo code BILLION.
Artists who are interested to distribute their music can click here to make use of the free offer, which expires on 3 July 2017. The company is hosting a count-up tracker on its website to show artists' progress towards reaching the $1bn mark.
"TuneCore is incredibly proud of our artists for reaching such an impactful industry milestone while keeping 100% of their earnings through streaming and downloads,” TuneCore CEO Scott Ackerman said.
“We are deeply committed to helping our artists maximise their revenue, which is why we are so excited to celebrate as they approach this historic achievement. We encourage artists around the world to join the Billion Dollar Club and help reach $1bn in artist earnings ahead of our projected date."
In what is a bonus for artists, the company is giving musicians an opportunity to be featured on TuneCore's curated Spotify playlist. Artists who want to benefit from this opportunity must share a screenshot of their artwork from their release through TuneCore. They should post the artwork on Instagram and tag it with the #TCBillion campaign hashtag. Furthermore, TuneCore artists will have the chance to add a Billion Dollar Club badge to their Facebook profile pictures to showcase their involvement in the campaign.
According to the TuneCore website, the company will continue to roll out additional content designed to engage artists in the next few months, including music education videos featuring TuneCore musicians.
Launched in 2006, TuneCore assists independent musicians, songwriters, labels and managers sell their music online, without sacrificing sales revenue or giving up their rights. These artists increase their earnings by selling their music through iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, Google Play and other major download and streaming sites. The service also helps artists to promote their craft, connect with fans and get their music heard.
The company administers songwriters’ compositions through licensing, registration, worldwide royalty collections and placement opportunities in film, TV, commercials and video games.
