The song has sparked thousands of organic creations on TikTok, capturing the attention of a fast-growing audience. Built on minimalist yet affecting production, ‘US’ explores themes of healing, loyalty, love, and friendship, offering a timely and unifying message in an increasingly fractured world. The song’s success has not been driven by marketing campaigns, but by genuine emotional connection, with users across social media sharing everything from dance challenges to deeply personal stories set to its lyrics.
Born Ezekiel Swayzee Georgewill, Swayvee first emerged from the rap cyphers of Port Harcourt, previously performing under the alias Fatal Emcee. Now based in Lagos, his genre-blending sound fuses melodic rap, Afro-fusion, and spiritual abstraction, influenced by artists like Tory Lanez, Burna Boy, Mr. Eazi, and Wizkid. His creative vision is also shaped by his leadership of Weirdsid3, a multidisciplinary collective rooted in themes of astronomy, mysticism, and experimental art.
While Swayvee’s discography has long favoured emotional depth and conceptual storytelling, ‘US’ represents a creative breakthrough, a track that not only resonates with listeners, but elevates him as a compelling voice in contemporary Afro-pop. He began his professional career in 2018 with Etins Records, quickly earning a following through Audiomack-exclusive freestyles and standout releases like ‘DMS’ and ‘Wild’ (with label mate Yarden). His 2021 EP The Lost Files featured cult favourites such as Magical and Waka Waka Baby, while 2023’s Afro-drill anthem ‘Para’ expanded his audience further.
In 2024, Swayvee was featured on Pressplay’s debut album, delivering a standout performance on ‘Drowsy’, which earned praise from industry figures including Mr. Eazi. His growing reputation has set the stage for what many believe will be his breakout year. With the release of his upcoming EP Perswaysion and a two-pack single scheduled for 11 September, Swayvee is solidifying his place as one of Nigeria’s most innovative and emotionally driven new voices.
