SA: Bigstar Johnson drops new album Ceasar
South African rapper and producer Bigstar Johnson has released a sophomore album titled Ceasar.
The record is available for streaming and download on major digital platforms. After recording 80% of the album in only three days, it took a year and a half to complete the rest.
Some of the songs featured on the 13-track project include ‘Coming or Going’, ‘Khomotso’, ‘Campaign’ and ‘Fede Sho’.
Despite taking the most out of him, Bigstar Johnson says the album also brings out the best of him. Meditation, prayer, and meaningful conversations got him through.
“Ceasar is about the relationship I have with my father, also understanding him now that I’ve become a father and resolving a lot of trauma through music and finding internal healing,” Bigstar Johnson said. “It was born through an awakening, and anyone who’s ever experienced that knows how uncomfortable it can be.”
“From the album you can expect mature, honest, authentic hip hop. I think hip hop has become overly aspirational and the truth is undervalued. Hip hop has always been about expressing oneself so I believe my contribution is the story of the 32-year-old black rapper from Johannesburg, Kempton Park 1632 East Rand.”
