Otile Brown inks brand ambassador deal with Tecno Mobile Kenya
Otile Brown has entered into a partnership with Chinese phone manufacturer Tecno Mobile to become the brand ambassador for the new Tecno Camon 19 series. The deal, reported to be worth millions of shillings, was announced early this week.
“I am really thrilled and excited to officially announce my partnership with Tecno Mobile Kenya as their brand ambassador and the chief creative officer for the Tecno Camon 19 Series,” the Kenyan R&B singer said. “Super, super excited for this great partnership. Tecno’s brand vision ‘Stop at Nothing’ is a spirit I believe in. I want to be associated with the brand’s ethos and create a memorable song to inspire the Camon 19 stylish look.”
The company said it took input from Otile Brown for the design process of the device, which will be unveiled globally on 14 June. The singer is expected to push the brand to his audience and explain its functionalities.
“Techno wanted to do something different in Kenya,” a Tecno Mobile representative said. “Being a creative, the Tecno team felt that instead of just appointing him a brand ambassador, it would be beautiful to incorporate his ideas on the creation of the device. There are a lot of design sketches from him and other ideas that he brought to the creation of Camon 19. Tecno wanted the phone to have a Kenyan touch.”
Otile Brown, who launched his record label Just in Love Music in 2019, enjoyed a relatively successful 2021 after becoming the first Kenyan artist to surpass 1 million subscribers on his YouTube channel.
He has also registered solid numbers on Boomplay where his albums Just in Love and Jeraha have amassed more than 33 million streams. His single ‘Such Kind of Love‘ boasts 12.1 million streams on the same platform.
