Nigeria: Tim Lyre shares debut album
Nigerian singer, songwriter and producer Tim Lyre today shared his debut album Worry <. The project was released via Outer South, and is available for streaming and download on all major digital platforms.
The nine-track album features appearances from Lex Amor, Prettyboy D-O, MOJO AF, Tena Tenpo, Lady Donli, DAP The Contract, July Drama and Kobla Jnr.
Tim Lyre said the album took three years to complete. The producer shouldered the majority of the production with contributions from other producers including Le Mav, Ronehi, Higo and July Drama.
“Worry < is my first album and as the name implies, I wanted to make an album the listener can plug into and make all of his/her worries fall away,’ Tim Lyre said. “It’s music to relax to, to be happy or sad to, music to make you feel better, it’s music to soundtrack whatever situation you may find yourself in. If you can find a way to immerse yourself in the project, then I hope it can be as therapeutic for you as it was for me.”
The LP was heralded with Afro-fusion single ‘Present’, with accompanying visuals by Nigerian creative director TSE.
On the track, Tim Lyre said: “Personally I sometimes find it hard to stay present in certain moments but I think we all deal with this as human beings. This song represents a rare moment in which I was truly able to fully express myself through music, from the lyrics to the production to the arrangement of the song, I felt what it meant to be fully switched on through this song.”
On the album, the multi-instrumentalist explores different genres spanning Afrobeats, alté, neo-soul and downtempo.
Worry < will also be available in full Spatial Audio on Apple Music, making it one of the first African releases to be available fully in this format.
