The prestigious event honours young African changemakers making significant contributions across a range of fields.
Blama, a founder of the online platform Geez Liberia, was recognised for his influential work in entertainment reporting, cultural commentary, and youth-focused content. What began as a simple Facebook page has since grown into one of Liberia’s leading online media outlets, Geez Liberia, covering entertainment, social issues, and national culture.
The Kigali ceremony brought together nominees from over 20 countries, including Kenya, Uganda, The Gambia and the host nation, Rwanda. Blama’s win reflects the rising influence of Liberian media voices within broader African digital conversations.
“This award is not just for me, but for every young Liberian pushing boundaries in media and creativity,” Blama said following the ceremony. “It motivates me to keep telling our stories and amplifying our voices across Africa.”
Blama’s platform is known for celebrating culture including music and many other forms of art. It also blends humour, national pride and socially conscious storytelling. His work consistently highlights emerging local talent, while tackling issues affecting Liberia’s youth. The recognition marks a significant milestone for the country’s digital media sector, as interest in its creative industries continues to grow.
