Ghana: Ayisi’s debut album The Unbroken out

Comprising 19 tracks, the LP features guest appearances from fellow Ghanaian acts Pure Akan, Efya, Obrafour and Prince Bright.

Sonically, The Unbroken finds its author fusing traditional Ghanaian influences with modern sounds like Afropop and hip hop. The project’s subject matter circles around keeping one’s head up in the face of adversity.

“I don’t think it’s a great album nor do I think it’s a bad album,” Ayisi said. “I know it’s an album that I will always look at as a point in my life that I was given another chance to prove my love for something. I will hear the songs and, every time, I will know what I was feeling and going through when I was making it.”

Born Emmanuel Kwadwo Ayisi Oware and formerly performing by the stagename A.I, Ayisi enjoys a glowing reputation locally for his authentic storytelling and all-round versatility. He is most popular for his singles ‘Grind’ (2016) and ‘Anger Management’ (2014).

Ayisi is also behind 2018’s Headstrong EP, and 2019’s The Linkop, a joint project with rapper E.L.
