The track, available for streaming and download on major digital platforms, is sung in French and fuses classic rhumba rhythms with contemporary musical elements. It highlights Gola’s emotive vocal range, accompanied by soulful piano melodies and the timeless cadence of rhumba, affirming his place as one of Africa’s most influential musical exports.
‘Amour Illusoire’, translated as Illusory Love, delves into the complexities of romance, exploring the tension between idealistic love and harsh realities. “Love can be beautiful, but it can also be a mirage,” Gola said. “Through ‘Amour Illusoire’, I wanted to capture that delicate balance between the dreams we chase and the realities we sometimes refuse to see.”
The release comes in the lead-up to Gola’s headline Padre’s Major concert, scheduled for 7 June 2025 at the ING Arena in Brussels. The performance follows a string of sold-out shows, including two at Paris’ Adidas Arena in April 2024 and acclaimed appearances at the Geneva Arena and the Couleur Café Festival in Belgium.
In a major career milestone, Sony Music East Africa recently signed Gola to a prestigious catalogue deal, recognising his enduring legacy and influence in African music.
Sony Music East Africa head of marketing and artist development Christine ‘Seven’ Mosha, said: “Ferré Gola is a living legend whose music has transcended borders and generations. We are honoured to partner with him to preserve and promote his rich catalogue, and to introduce his iconic sound to even more fans around the world.”
