Call for submissions: Piano competition in Austria
The Golden Key Music Festival of Vienna, Austria, is accepting entries for the Golden Key Piano Composition Competition.
The annual competition seeks to encourage creativity and self-expression in new and upcoming composers. The winning compositions will be presented during the World Composers’ Recital that will be held as part of the Golden Key Music Festival of Vienna from 3 to 10 August 2020.
The competition has national and international Divisions. The national division is only open to composers who are currently residents of the US, while the international division is open to composers from anywhere in the world. Residents of the US can submit applications for national, international or both.
The application deadline is 1 December 2019 and the winning composers will be announced no later than 7 January 2020.
Eligibility
The submitted composition must be originally written for piano or for piano in an ensemble with other instruments(s) or voice(s).
Interested participants will be required to pay the following fees:
- National division – $75 per entry.
- International division – $100 per entry.
- Both the national and international divisions – $175 per entry.
Requirements
Interested composers can apply in the following age categories:
- Elementary (ages 5 to 10)
- Junior (ages 11 to 14)
- Senior (ages 15 to 18)
- Young artist (ages 19 to 26)
- Professional (27 and older)
Remuneration
- Selected winning compositions will be part of the 2020 Golden Key Music Festival of Vienna.
- The top winner in each of the five age categories in the two divisions is eligible to receive a $500 scholarship towards his or her participation in the 2020 Golden Key Music Festival of Vienna.
- The winners in each category will receive diplomas.
The jury will also award each winner’s teacher with the following prizes:
- $115 for national entry.
- $140 for international entry.
- $215 for combined entry.
