Call for registration: French Institute of South Africa NN Game Jam
The French Institute of South Africa (IFAS) is calling on local creatives to register for its NN Game Jam as part of the institute’s Novembre Numérique 2021 programme.
The participants will collaborate with South African and French games industry experts to create video games in less than 72 hours from 5 to 7 November. The call aims to bring together a large and inclusive network of creators, authors, journalists, directors, game designers and developers to work as a team and share their skills.
“We welcome any students, professionals, and freelancers from the creative industries for a fun opportunity to learn new skills and network with each other,” IFAS said. “In order to be as inclusive as possible, teams selected will be balanced across gender, race, and experience level.”
Interested creatives can register here before 23 October.
The team size is limited, but the selection committee will choose participants from different backgrounds and not only from the gaming industry.
Rules and values of the Jam
- Participants and mentors must be kind to each other.
- Game Jam is not a competition.
- Game Jam is a 72-hour event that seeks to give participants a timeline and structure in which they should be available if they want to get the most of it. Therefore mentors will only be available during this time. There is no prize at the end and the goal is to finish in time so that participants can be able to showcase their game to a professional gamer/international audience for them to play.
- Mentors and participants will be there to exchange and share their expertise. The purpose of this jam is to collaborate to learn how to create something new and explore new ways to do things.
All enquiries can be emailed to novembre.numerique@ifas.org.za.
