Call for registration: Andariya workshop and concert in Egypt
Andariya, a digital and cultural platform in Sudan, South Sudan and Uganda, is calling on artists based in Cairo, Egypt, to register for a digital branding and music workshop at AfriCairo Music Space on 24 January and a concert at El Sawy Culture Wheel on 26 January.
Andariya founder Omnia Shawkat will conduct the training on digital branding while South Sudanese poet Ade the Truth and Sudanese artists Barood Black and Salma Palmer will facilitate the music workshop. The three artists will also perform at the concert alongside Kawaja Revolution (South Sudan), Dennis Denaya (South Sudan) and Mohamed Hashim (Sudan).
In November, Andariya held similar workshops in Kampala, Uganda. "We sought independent artists for our project and most artists who applied for the Kampala edition were woke and very active in their expression of how they feel about the status of various issues in society," Shawkat told Music In Africa.
"We don’t encourage or discourage any form of music creation; we support their capacity to carry this art forward and provide the stage for them to do so. We are proud of how engaged our artists are with diverse issues and believe in all arts with a mission to entertain and educate."
Registration is free and interested individuals can access the application form here.
The workshop will cover the following topics:
- How to create engaging content online.
- How to grow your brand using social media marketing.
- How to identify and utilise opportunities with various stakeholders.
- How to manage your online reputation including negative reviews.
- Best platforms to market music and reach a wider audience.
