Call for proposals: 2022 Korea Electro-Acoustic Music Society conference

Korea Electro-Acoustic Music Society (KEAMS) is inviting artists around the world to apply for the 2022 edition of KEAMS Annual Conference (KEAMSAC) in Seoul, South Korea, from 14 to 16 October.
KEAMSAC was formed to promote active research and discussion on electro-acoustic music. Singaporean composer Peter Ivan Edwards will be the keynote speaker at the event.
To be considered at KEAMSAC, participants should submit an abstract or proposal (maximum of 2 000 characters including spaces) and a curriculum vitae as PDF documents via email at emille@keams.org before 30 June. Selected papers from the conference will be published in Vol. 20 Emille journal.
Preferred language
- Conference presentation: English.
- Conference article: English or Korean.
- Journal article: English or Korean.

For the KEAMS conference, the following topics are included, but not limited to:
- Creative encounters between music and science.
- Multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary research (co-authors acceptable).
- Systematic musicology (computational musicology and computational music theory.
- Analysis of electronic and computer-based music.
- Sound synthesis.
- Music psychology.
- Instrumentation.
- Development of electronically-extended musical instruments.
- Music software engineering.
- Artificial musical intelligence.
- Computer-aided composition/analysis.
- Automatic composition.
- Aesthetics.
Important dates
- Deadline for proposal submission – 30 June.
- Notification of acceptance of the proposal – 31 July.
- Deadline for paper submission for the Conference Proceedings – 30 September.
- Conference – 14 to 16 October.
- Notification of selected paper for the Emille journal – 20 November.
- Deadline for final paper submission – 20 December.
Session formats
Paper presentations
- Each session consists of three to four presentations.
- Each paper will be presented in person for about 25 minutes followed by a five minutes of discussion.
- Video conferencing over the internet may situationally be available.
Keynote presentation
- A keynote speaker will be given 50 minutes to address, followed by ten minutes of Q&A.
Workshops
- The length of each session will be around 90 minutes.
- Each workshop consists of one to three sessions in one to three days.
Fees and accommodation
Registration and publication fees will be waived, and accommodation will be provided to presenters during the session. Students and non-experts in the fields mentioned above can also to submit proposals for the conference and the Emille journal. All proposals will be screened by the programme committee and selected solely based on the quality of the research and topic.
“We are welcome any ideas for electro-acoustic music research from you, and believe them to be precious assets for the conference and the journal,” reads a statement.
