Call for entries: French Language Day music competition in Burundi
The French Institute in Bujumbura is calling on aspiring musicians to submit songs by Belgian artists ahead of the French Language Week concert on 22 March.
“This day is annually set aside to celebrate the French language through various events," the institute’s head of cultural affairs, Laurence Galley, told Music In Africa." As for this year, the event will run from 15 to 23 March worldwide and in Burundi it will be hosted by the Belgian embassy.
“We will select 15 candidates who will take part in the completion, and the winners will be announced on the same day. All the participants will receive a free French Institute library card while the top three will be awarded free music classes at the institute.”
Galley said there would be a special performance by the Belgian ambassador Bernard Quintin, who is also a musician known as Bernard Q.
The deadline for submissions is 15 March and successful individuals will be notified via email.
