Call for compositions: Song Contest competition
German non-profit organisation Engagement Global is calling on children and young people aged between 10 and 25 to submit self-written and composed songs for the 'Dein Song für EINE WELT' (Your song for ONE WORLD) competition.
The international competition, which is in its third edition, is looking for songs that respond to issues relating to ONE WORLD and global development. Engagement Global will consider song submissions from participants from countries on the Development Assistance Committee list.

Interested applicants should read the terms of participation and download and sign a consent form before they register. The consent form should be scanned and sent by email to songcontest@engagement-global.de or posted to the following address:

At the end of the registration, the following data must be uploaded:
- Your song as an audio or video file (permitted file formats are .mp3, .mp4, .mov, .avi, .flv and others).
- If more than 10 people are participating, a digital document containing the names and dates of birth of all group members.
- If you are under the age of 18 or participants in your group are under the age of 18, the Declaration of Consent signed by a parent or sole legal guardian.
The following data may also be submitted (optional):
- The lyrics as a .pdf file.
- A description of the band or artist(s), photos or further information that you would like to share.
- Your song, your artist/band name, the lyrics and the translation will then be uploaded on the official website and can be seen by all users.
The registration deadline is 25 June.
Who can take part in the contest and what kind of songs can be submitted?
- The Song Contest welcomes applicants internationally, with children and young persons aged between 10 and 25.
- Soloists, choirs, bands and anyone else who enjoys music can take part.
- Engagement Global is looking for songs that deal with topics of the ONE WORLD and/or global development.
- No matter if you play hip hop or world music, rock or pop – there are no boundaries when it comes to musical styles.
- Songs submitted must be no longer than 3:50 minutes in length and must be exempt from Germany's Society for Musical Performing and Mechanical Reproduction Rights.
- No instrumental accompaniment is necessary to participate in the Song Contest – lyrics with a sung melody is sufficient.
Prizes
- The winners receive money and non-cash prizes worth more than €70 000 ($79 000)
- These include live performances, workshops and professional studio recordings, since the best 23 songs will be produced to create an EINE WELT (ONE WORLD) album.
Special Africa and Latin America Prizes can be won additionally:
- This special prize can be won by songs that, in terms of their content, focus on Africa/Latin America, have been created in collaboration with African/Latin American musicians or have been submitted by participants from an African/Latin American country.
Special price for best video:
- You can also submit your own music video to the Song Contest and win 'best video' in addition to another prize.
Public’s prize:
- The song with the most votes in the user voting will also be professionally produced and will feature in the 'EINE WELT (ONE WORLD)' album.
User voting
After the official closing date for entries, all published songs can be accessed on the website for user voting purposes. Users can vote for your songs for a period of three weeks. The song ranked first in the user voting will be awarded the Public’s Prize and will be one of the 23 winning songs on the 'EINE WELT (ONE WORLD)' album. Songs ranked second to fifth in the user voting will receive recognition awards. The results of the user voting will be published on the Song Contest website in September 2019. The winners will be notified by email.
