
Call for applications: SAMPRA compliance consultant in SA
The South African Music Performance Rights Association (SAMPRA) is inviting experienced candidates to apply for the compliance consultant position in Parktown, Johannesburg.

The position is permanent and the successful candidate will report to the chief revenue and legal officer. SAMPRA issues licences to music users and collects, manages and distributes royalties on behalf of its members.
Main purpose
- Generation of revenue by licensing new music users.
Key responsibilities
- To search for new and unlicensed business entities that are utilising sound recordings that are within SAMPRA’s repertoire.
- To educate users on the importance of licensing.
- Negotiate with non-compliant users to ensure compliance.
- To license unlicensed music users.
- To respond to all sales leads immediately.
- To manage the licensing administration process.
- To ensure that all licence application forms are correctly and accurately completed.
- To manage and resolve disputes with users.
- Conduct site visits to verify client information, where necessary.
Minimum requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Sales and/or negotiations training.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Above average telephone etiquette.
- Ability to develop and deliver presentations to clients.
- Code EB driver’s licence.
- At least two years’ sales experience.
- Own transport or ability to visit clients and prospective clients.
- Ability to work alone and in a team.
- Tenacious planner who has a drive to succeed in a performance-driven environment.
- Knowledge of copyright law (added advantage).
