Call for applications: National School of the Arts music teacher in SA

The National School of the Arts (NSA) in Johannesburg, South Africa, seeks to employ a full-time music teacher to teach piano and fulfil the responsibilities of an accompanist.
The successful candidate will commence on 19 July with an indicative gross monthly salary of R25 000 per month. Incremental adjustments are to be determined by the experience and qualifications of the preferred candidate.
Requirements
- Minimum qualification: Bachelor of music or any relevant REQV 13 qualification and PGCE.
- Candidates should have knowledge of classroom music (Grade 8-12) and have experience in teaching music theory, harmony and history of music.
- The successful candidate must be able to teach piano up to Grade 8 ABRSM standard and accompany pupils for exams and other school-related performances.
- Previous experience as a piano teacher and accompanist will be an advantage.
- The successful candidate must be a good team player, available and willing to work outside of regular school hours when necessary and be an enthusiastic participant in the annual cultural programme of the school.
- The candidate should possess the soft skills required to thrive in a specialist arts school environment, including passion, patience, determination and the ability to motivate and discipline.
- With a history that spans 50 years, the NSA is South Africa’s oldest public-funded school of specialisation in performing and creative arts.
- The NSA, situated in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, is a Gauteng department of education school.
