Call for applications: Musiquelaine SA project manager
Non-governmental organisation Musiquelaine SA (MSA) is calling on qualified professionals to apply for the project manager position in Cape Town, South Africa.
MSA is registered as a public benefit organisation and is situated within Steenberg High School, The institution’s primary objective is to build a long-term sustainable music development programme from primary to tertiary level.
Minimum qualifications
- Matric and diploma/degree in administration, finance/commerce, business being advantages.
Minimum experience
- A minimum of five years‘ work experience in grant and project management within arts and culture with a primary focus on music.
Skills
- Meticulous attention to detail, fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience in working with the Pastel accounting system.
- Able to pull reports for monthly reporting and audit purposes.
- Experience in monitoring and evaluation.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and good interpersonal skills.
Other requirements
- Ability to maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, practical experience in writing reports (both financial and narrative) and drafting budgets for projects would be advantageous.
- Analytical thinking/problem solving, results focus, building partnership, people management and communication.
Scope of responsibility
The successful candidate will:
- Manage and administer MSA for the success of the project.
- Act as liaison for the organisation between the board, school, outside entities, parents, tutors and band members.
- Proactively advise the chairperson of the board on anything that could affect or impact on the organisation negatively.
- Ensure that the organisation’s relationship with the school is maintained and managed in terms of the memorandum of understanding between the school and MSA.
- Ensure that the finances of the organisation are always in good standing.
- Ensure that the banking systems of the organisation are in good order at all times.
- Ensure that the organisation is at all times in good standing with the Department of Social Development.
- Ensure the completion and submission of the relevant fundraising documents when required.
- Ensure that the donor conditions are met timeously in terms of progress reports.
- Ensure that the quarterly reports on the activities of the overall project is submitted to the board members, the school principal and the school governing body.
- Make monthly M&E reporting with stakeholders as well maintaining M&E reporting to donors as required.
- Represent the MSA organisation at the SGB monthly meetings to provide a brief on the activities of the band.
- Arrange quarterly parent committee meetings with the assistance of the admin assistant and parent committee chairperson.
- Have an oversight of stocktake and maintenance of instruments.
- Ensure that board and staff meetings are arranged timeously and that protocols are adhered to.
- Ensure that board meeting minutes are completed and maintained in terms of good business practice.
- Use the standard operating procedure document to formulate policy and procedures, to assist staff to improve the systems of seamless flow of work for the organisation, especially with reference to the monitoring and evaluation of the project goals, i.e. London Trinity Exam.
- Ensure the coordination of the music programme and the project office work to harness the best results for the overall programme with special reference to the band camp, the music clinic and external travelling performances of the band.
- Ensure the successful planned coordination of the annual CFLAT Youth Jazz Festival with the various interested stakeholders and sponsors.
