Call for applications: Menya Media administrative and financial assistant in Burundi
Menya Media is looking for an administrative and financial assistant for its Sectoral Support Project for Cultural and Creative Actors initiative in Burundi.
The project is supported by the European Union and led by a consortium of Burundian and Belgian actors including Menya Media, Adisco-MDE and Africalia. It will be implemented in the Bujumbura, Ngozi and Gitega regions.
With the project, Menya Media seeks to:
- Strengthen cultural sector actors and their actions in Burundi.
- Have a quantitative and qualitative impact on the cultural sector, civil society organisations, economic and social development.
- Facilitate job creation and access and awareness of the Burundian population to cultural products and innovations.
- Enhance the value of Burundian culture by professionalising local actors, improving the quality of creations and providing support to place them on the market.
- Preserve the country's cultural heritage through training and support for project development, and to create jobs for young people.
The successful applicant will receive a fixed 32-month contract and will be based in Bujumbura. The salary will be based on local rates.
Responsibilities
- Manage the project's finances, staff payslips, payments (expert fees, room rentals, equipment invoices, travel, etc.).
- Control the budget, manage cash flow and other financial documents and monitor the project's accounting.
- Ensure the accounting treatment of the project's expenses and income.
- Evaluate, in coordination with the financial managers of the co-applicants, the relevance and correction of the budgets presented by the applicants of the calls for applications and projects requiring a budget.
- Ensure the financial follow-up of the grant beneficiaries, in coordination with the financial managers of the co-applicants.
- Ensure the correction of payments to beneficiaries (intermediaries and final).
- Follow up on the dashboards of supplier and other invoices.
- Initiate the process of closing and reporting the accounting and financial results for the period with the preparation of financial reports.
Qualifications
- Have a degree in administration, finance, management or accounting.
- Demonstrate practical experience in an accounting and/or administrative and financial management position.
- Working languages: perfect command of French and Kirundi.
- Good knowledge of accounting software and MS Office.
- Good understanding of the regulations in force in Burundi.
- Ability to plan and organise.
- Have a sense of initiative, able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Work in a precise and results-oriented manner.
- Stress resistant and able to produce results promptly.
- Experience working in Africa, particularly in Burundi, is an asset.
- Experience in the cultural and creative field is a plus.
