
Call for applications: FRAME Mentoring 2023
All junior professionals in the audio-visual heritage field are invited to apply for the 2023 edition of the FRAME Mentoring programme.
- The call is designed for all junior professionals in the audio-visual heritage field.
The programme is designed for professionals with around maximum five years of experience in the same or similar position regardless of their age, nationality, position, or field of activity. It aims to support them in their career development and assist implement one of their projects. Two applicants will be selected.
The mentoring programme includes the following:
- Monthly online exchanges with the mentor and other relevant experts from June to December 2023.
- A professional immersion for two weeks at Institut national de l'audiovisuel or the mentor’s organisation during the autumn of 2023.
- An Accreditation to the next International Federation of Television Archives (FIAT/IFTA) World Conference, which will be organised in Locarno (Switzerland) from 17 to 20 October, will offer successful participants an overview of the latest trends in audio-visual archives and an opportunity to develop your network.
- All expenses (flights, hotels, lunches) are 100% covered by the programme scholarship.
FRAME Mentoring is primarily addressed to professionals involved in a project ongoing or to be launched soon. The mentee’s project could deal with (non-exhaustive list):
- Design and implementation of an archiving workflow.
- Collect audio-visual archives.
- Preservation of audio-visual archives and audio-visual carriers.
- Digitisation.
- Audio-visual and film restoration.
- Digital archive management.
- Digital archive long-term preservation.
- Management, notably of an audio-visual archives department.
- Documentation.
- Implementation of a database and definition of data models.
- Rights management.
- Research and scientific access and projects using audio-visual archives.
- Educative access and projects using AV archives.
- General audience access project using AV archives.
- Production of audio-visual content based on archives (film, documentary, digital and innovative content).
- Post-disaster handling of collections.
Eligibility
FRAME Mentoring is dedicated to all junior professionals in the audio-visual archives field:
- With less than five years of experience in the same or similar position.
- From any field of activity.
- Whatever their nationality.
- Regardless of their age.
How to apply?
Applicants who meet the criteria, can submit their applications and join the FRAME community. To apply, applicants should complete the application form here before 15 March.
In addition, applicants must send their Curriculum Vitae (CV) or resume with a support letter signed by a manager, and commit themselves to be available for the planned actions.
After the closing date, a jury will examine all applications received and select the two mentees. All applicants will be notified of the selection or not of their application.
All expenses (flights, hotels, lunches) are 100% covered by the programme scholarship.
Selection criteria
The selection will be made according to the motivation and profile of the applicant’s:
- Professional profile.
- Training and professional background.
- Professional project.
- Motivations to attend the mentoring session.
- Level of English (which must be sufficient to exchange with the tutors and write a report).
- Will to reuse and share the knowledge acquired during the mentoring session.
