Call for applications: CMO CEO in Kenya
A registered collective management organisation (CMO) in Nairobi, Kenya, which has not been named yet, is seeking a CEO to provide leadership and strategic direction. The successful candidate must be result-oriented and self-motivated.
A CMO is a body that administers the licensing of rights, collection of royalties and enforcement of rights on behalf of copyright holders. It monitors the use of works and collect licence fees on the copyright owner’s behalf. The Kenya Copyright Board licenses and regulates all CMOs in Kenya.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Ensure effective compliance with the Copyright Act.
- Ensure the implementation and adherence of the organisation’s policies, procedures and standards.
- Provide leadership to senior management and staff.
- Manage the organisation’s budget, ensure timely preparation and establish proper internal controls.
- Review and implement regulations, internal systems, structures, procedures and controls to improve service quality.
- Establish a framework to implement the organisation’s strategic plan, policies and business plan.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory bodies and relevant bodies.
- Ensure timely preparation and presentation of various progress reports to the board of directors.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have:
- A master’s degree in business administration, law, education, economics, statistics, communication, intellectual property or related disciplines from a recognised university.
- At least 10 years of work experience, five of which must be at the managerial level.
- Basic knowledge in IT and financial management.
- Basic knowledge of the intellectual property industry.
- Professional qualification and membership to a professional body where applicable.
