Call for applications: Arab world travel grant for artists

Headquartered in France, Fanak Fund was launched in 2019 to pro­mote art and cul­ture in Eu­rope, the Arab world and the broader Mid­dle East region. 

Ap­pli­cants must be per­formers, cre­ators, teachers, or­gan­is­ers, ad­min­is­tra­tors and project man­ag­ers working in the cul­tur­al sec­tor.

Applicants from the following African countries are eligible to apply:

• Algeria
• Morocco
• Tunisia
• Mauritania
• Egypt
• Sudan

The pro­gramme is open to the fol­low­ing artis­tic and cul­tur­al fields, ei­ther with­in trans­dis­ci­pli­nary or monodis­ci­pli­nary projects:

• ­­Mu­sic projects.
• Cul­tur­al projects.
• Con­tem­po­rary live arts including new the­atri­cal forms, new writ­ing for the­atre, drama, con­tem­po­rary dance, cir­cus, street per­for­mances and pup­pet the­atre.
• Vi­su­al arts in­clud­ing pho­tog­ra­phy, film, dig­i­tal arts and video arts.
• Lit­er­a­ture: trav­el for au­thors' meet­ings, writ­ing work­shops and po­et­ry.
• Ar­chi­tec­ture.
• De­sign.
• Fash­ion.
• Crafts. 

The applicants must be traveling to:

• Pre­pare a project.
• ­Take part in a res­i­den­cy.
• ­Take part in a meet­ing of artists and pro­fes­sion­als with the aim of net­work­ing or encour­ag­ing links be­tween cul­tur­al, artis­tic and de­vel­op­ment ac­tors through­out the re­gion.
• Attend/conduct artis­tic train­ing. 
• ­Take part in de­bates, con­fer­ences and sem­i­nars.

Applicants should note:

• An application can be made for one trip (short mo­bil­i­ty) or a se­quence of three trips, one af­ter the oth­er (seg­ment­ed mo­bil­i­ty).
• Requests must be made as an in­di­vid­ual re­quest and sent by an or­gan­i­sa­tion. 
• The trip must con­tribute to cul­tur­al de­vel­op­ment at lo­cal lev­el and the eman­ci­pa­tion of pop­u­la­tions in the coun­tries of des­ti­na­tion or de­par­ture.
• Eligible travel dates are from the lifting of international transport restrictions onwards, both in the country of departure and the country of destination. Since the lifting of restriction dates are not yet known, applicants can suggest approximate dates. All travel projects must be adaptable to date changes.
• Applicants must choose the cheapest form of transport and can only apply for one international return travel ticket, visa and insurance costs.
• Local transport, per diems and accommodation are not covered by this fund.
