Apple Music launches Music That Moves Me highlighting African artists
Apple Music has launched Music That Moves Me, a campaign highlighting the intersection of music, movement and personal identity through the perspectives of Africa’s leading artists and athletes.
Congolese artist Ferre Gola is among the featured artists.
The initiative features two playlist series. Warm Up showcases selections curated by professional footballers, including South African striker Lyle Foster and Nigerian midfielder Alex Iwobi, providing insight into the tracks they rely on to prepare mentally and physically for competition. The series aims to reveal the emotional and motivational rhythms that underpin athletic performance.
The second series, Music That Moves Me, offers personal playlists from artists across the continent, reflecting the songs that have shaped their artistic and cultural journeys. Featured contributors include Nigerian rapper ODUMODUBLVCK, South African DJ Uncle Waffles, Congolese singer Ferre Gola, and Moroccan pop artist Manal.
ODUMODUBLVCK describes his playlist as “raw, spiritual, unfiltered energy” that reconnects him to his origins and the people who shaped his voice. Uncle Waffles notes that her selections embody “the energy I carry with me, the artists who inspire me, and the beats that connect us across the continent.”
Ferre Gola’s playlist reflects the romance, soul and musical heritage that define his career, while Manal traces her personal and cultural identity through tracks that motivate her and guide her creative ambitions.
The campaign emphasises music as a tool for grounding, empowerment and connection, illustrating how African creators and athletes use sound to navigate personal and professional challenges, celebrate culture, and foster cross-generational dialogue.
Music That Moves Me is available now on Apple Music, providing audiences with curated insights into the creative and emotional lives of Africa’s leading voices.
