ACCES confirms JNICC and Brake Point Makumbusho as new venues
Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, has been confirmed as the new venue for the 2022 Music In Africa Conference for Collaborations, Exchange and Showcases (ACCES), with Brake Point Makumbusho (Village Museum) set to host ACCES’ three-day, pan-African music programme.
ACCES is a leading music business event organised by the Music In Africa Foundation in a different African city every year. Dar es Salaam will be the fifth African city to host ACCES, following editions in Dakar, Senegal (2017), Nairobi, Kenya (2018), Accra, Ghana (2019) and Johannesburg, South Africa (2021).
The music industry trade event, which takes place on 24, 25 and 26 November, will feature conference sessions, workshops, networking activities, exhibitions and pitch sessions at JNICC, with Brake Point Makumbusho to host showcases from an eclectic line-up of African performers including SinaUbi Zawose (Tanzania), Oumar Konaté (Mali), Flying Bantu (Zimbabwe), Joyce Babatunde (Cameroon), Naïnako (Madagascar), Vitali Maembe & Watupa Mawe (Tanzania), TaraJazz Zanzibar (Tanzania), Tofa Jaxx (Tanzania) and Kalam La Reine du Kundé (Burkina Faso).
Magic System frontman A'Salfo (Ivory Coast), Sony Music Publishing Nigeria managing director Godwin Tom (Nigeria), singer Abigail (Tanzania) and event producer, DJ and radio/TV host Eric Soul (Rwanda) are among the speakers programmed for the event.
They join previously announced industry experts including TuneCore head for West and East Africa Chioma Onuchukwu (Nigeria), Boomplay Tanzania general manager Natasha Stambuli (Tanzania), Byta founder Marc Brown (Sweden), Sauti za Busara festival director Yusuf Mahmoud (Tanzania), Afropolitan Vibes founder Ade Bantu, Vibrations Magazine founder Elisabeth Stoudmann (Switzerland) and Music In Africa Foundation director Eddie Hatitye (South Africa), among many others.
More speakers and performing artists will be announced in due course.
Registrations for ACCES 2022 are now open on a first-come, first-served basis. African delegates register for free.
