4 musicians make Top 50 Young CEOs in Ghana list
At a time defined by big losses in the entertainment industry, Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Samini and D-Black have been named as the most impressive musician-entrepreneurs in Ghana.
The four musicians make an appearance on Avance Media's 2020 Top 50 Young CEOs in Ghana list, which features young Ghanaian business leaders and entrepreneurs in the entertainment, agribusiness, finance, technology, fashion, media, real estate and social enterprise sectors.
D-Black and Stonebwoy appear on the list as the CEOs of Black Avenue Muzik and Burniton Music Group, respectively, while Samini made it on as the CEO of High Grade Farms. Shatta Wale, meanwhile, was listed as the CEO of Shatta Movement Empire, with the bulk of his revenue coming from music production, artist management and The Reign clothing brand.
The list also gives a nod to founders of innovative companies in the entertainment sector such as Afrochella festival CEO Abdul Karim Abdullah and 3Media Networks CEO Sadiq Abdulai Abu, who is also responsible for the annual 3Music Awards. The 2020 edition of the awards will be hosted online on 24 April.
Also appearing on the list is Eventic GH CEO Kwamivi Ashiaby. Eventic GH deals with online ticketing, event promotion and marketing, and the organisation of the annual Volta Music Awards.
"This came as a surprise to me and I am truly honoured," Ashiaby told Music In Africa. "There has been tremendous growth in the company and we are looking forward to expand our services and events to other regions as opposed to just being based in the Volta region. We are proud to be able to employ the youth, and plans are under way to unveil an annual traditional music festival to promote indigenous music and dances such as the agbadza, kinka, gadzo, gibo, borborbor and so on."
The 2020 list was compiled by The YCEO, a platform that celebrates young entrepreneurs, as well as leading PR agency Avance Media.
Avance Media managing director Prince Akpah said the top-50 list was meant to inspire young entrepreneurs going through the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. He said the featured professionals would take part in the #YoungCEOsAgainstCOVID19 campaign to promote positive messages.
