Cape Town Jazzathon 2020

This weekend a minimum of 280 musicians will claim their rightful place on stage at The V&A Waterfront Amphitheatre from 1pm until 8pm daily, for 4 days, from 9 – 12 January 2020 for Jazzathon 2020

The Cape Town Jazzathon has introduced the likes of Jimmy Dludlu, Jonathan Rubain, Judith Sephuma, Cameron Ward and many musicians, to Cape Town, South Africa and the rest of the World from this very platform.

Now fondly referred to as The People’s Festival, The Cape Town Jazzathon is a pioneering event that takes pride in showcasing completely unknown artists and watching them grow into the superstars they were born to be.

The line up this year includes an amazing variety of music and musicians including Legendary and wellknown artists like Benjamin Jephta (visiting his hometown all the way from the USA), Camillo Lombard, Allou April, Sammy Webber, Celeste Williams, Varonica Meyer, Ashanti, Cameron Ward, Jason Ward, Ida Gormsen (all the way from Norway), and a few surprise artists making ad hoc guest appearances.

The new, young, upcoming bands and stalwarts making their debut appearances at The Cape Town Jazzathon this year include Jitsvinger, Auriol Hays, The Conquerors, Ocean’s Riff, Blastards, Soul Reflection, Deep Soul, Relentless, Latosh, Nirvana, Fusion Rhythm, The Trio Band, The Perfect Fifth and an amazing 40 piece Orchestra, The Community Youth Orchestra.

Sunday 12 Jan features a mixture of Gospel and Jazz, while a full day dedicated to female performers on Friday 10 January features an exciting group of individuals who are mentored by the legendary Sophia Foster, called The Fostering Foundation. Performances by Hannah Kay, Hunter Rose, Lauren Hendricks, Jodi Fredericks, Kara Snethlage, Chante Philips and Nobuhle Ashanti are also certain to entertain.
