Daniel Castillo
Bio
Daniel Castillo is a Colombian singer-songwriter and researcher whose work redefines contemporary folk music through a profound dialogue with territorial identity. Since 2016, his career has been marked by a unique ability to blend the aesthetics of indie-folk with the rich heritage of Latin American "campesina" rhythms, resulting in a sound that balances acoustic warmth with deep, human-centered narratives.
His debut album, El Bosque del Alma (2024), was acclaimed by El Espectador as one of the 20 most important Colombian albums of the year. Throughout his career, Daniel has shared the stage with renowned artists such as El Kanka, Marta Gómez, and Juan Pablo Vega, and has been recognized by the John Lennon Songwriting Contest in New York.
Currently, Daniel is developing his latest project, Médula, recorded in 2026. This new work pushes the boundaries of the Colombian "song of author," aiming for international stages by merging avant-garde sounds with ancestral roots.
