Cape Town Big Band Jazz Festival

The Cape Town Big Band Jazz Festival provides a platform for top school big bands to showcase their talents. It was founded in 1999 by the late Dennis Barr. The money raised from the annual event is used for various initiatives, especially in disadvantaged communities. These include music education at various underprivileged schools, such as Manenberg High School and Ned Doman Secondary School on the Cape Flats. The event incorporates the Cape Town Steelband and Marimba Festivals.
